Screaming child
The first time it happened (2 nights ago), we were shocked, cos it was the first time seeing her vent her frustrations this way. Later on, we learnt that she was very upset and unhappy that her brother was given something which she had asked for but was not given previously. That 'thing' was just a pear. She was throwing her tantrum on the floor, screaming her head off. I carried her up, held her, and let her continue screaming. Told her she can scream all she want if it makes her feel better. She screamed a few more times.. and finally stopped. But she was unconsolable and continued crying. Finally, Nick took over and brought her into the room for 'counselling' and she finally accepted her mistake and recognised her actions were uncalled for.
We also realised she is starting to get defiant over simple instructions.
So, it leads us to ponder.. what approach we should be adopting to handle this behaviour.
Figured that it is best to let her scream her lungs out - to vent out all her frustrations, and most importantly, not to lose our cool at her. The last thing we want is to show her a bad example, and we know screaming at her definitely doesn't help. So after she has calmed down, we manage to talk to her and explained to her why we do not like her behaviour. She seemed to accept it, which we felt was crucial.
The very next day, we heard from parents in law that Nat screamed at her brother again. Just because he touched her stuff. She was furious, and even raised her hands at him. Again, we had a talk with her, asking her why she did that. She explained she was very very angry and upset. So we went through the process of explaining and analysing her action again. This time round, emphasising that we do not want her to behave in that manner again. The next time, she will be punished.
We are worried and hope that this behavioural problem will be settled soon. It may take awhile before she finally learn to manage her anger. Meanwhile, i pray and hope that we'll be able to teach her and guide her without losing our cool.

It's my mummy's birthday today
While all the other mummies who heard this were wishing her "Happy Birthday", this mummy actually blurted out.. "it's nothing actually. My husband don't even remember my birthday. Even so my son didn't even know it until my mother called this morning and told him". This mummy then went on to say that her husband hasn't remembered her birthday for years.
If she looked disappointed, she sure didn't show it. But, I am pretty sure, deep down inside.. she would have really love it if her husband had remembered this day. Even if it wasn't important to him.
While I am not in the position on their marriage life, personally, I somehow felt sad for her. Her husband, of all people should be the last person on this earth to forget this day. It might be just a date to other people, but as her husband, he should at least make the effort to make her feel special. If he does not even remember this day, I wonder how does he treat her on 'normal' days.
Maybe I am just one of those old-fashioned, romantic sort who love to be pampered by my loved ones. Maybe I am too used to being pampered.
But.. isn't this what a normal relationship should be?
Well, if you decided to marry someone, hoping to work out a future with him/her but yet do not treasure your partner.... it's as good as .... staying single.
If you marry someone but still think mostly about YOURSELF, then you might as well.. stay single!
or rather.. maybe you should just get a pet as your partner for the rest of your life.

Star Cruise Trip (Mar 2010)
We were woken up and rocked to sleep by the sound of waves surrounding the ship. They created a relaxing and soothing lullaby, helping us to indulge into the momentary peace and tranquility of the night. With no network coverage out at sea.. the peace is even accentuated.
A real relaxing trip for family, I would say.. with all meals and kids activities provided on board. No rush to board plans or land transfers.

Star Award 2009
This award is given to staff whom the management and rest of the staff felt has put in the best effort, has the best attitude and shown the most commitment in their work in 2009.
Somehow, I had mixed feelings when I received the plaque.
For all the sacrifices I've made, time, effort, energy, spent in making sure that I always put in my best in my work, the stress I've felt.. I'm given a plaque. On a positive note, I should look at it as an unspoken recognition and appreciation given to an employee. (Actually I can even put it in my resume - as one of the award I've received, to increase my market value!). After the award, people congratulated me, etc.. and straight after that.. it's back to the hectic mad rush day at work again.
But at the same time, I wasn't really sure if I should be that happy. In fact, I had a real stressful day today at work. Just because I am going on leave next week, I suddenly have an accumulated list of tasks to be completed BEFORE I can leave. Not to add couple of 'ad-hoc' discussions and new projects that came in at the 11th hour... and I can't get to sleep now cos I am worried abt the unfinished tasks.. Damn.
If this is what I have to go through for another year just to get that award.. I'd rather give it up.
Well.. shall take one step at a time. Meanwhile.. am looking forward to the trip.. and stay happy while I can!
A break finally!
We have signed up a 4D3N Star Cruise package, which will be travelling to Penang and Phuket.
Today we just fixed up the study table cum cupboard in our 2nd room (after 1.5 yrs!!!) and there are boxes of books and IT stuff to be packed. I can't and dont wish to think about it. Just want to go for my short break soon.

新年快乐!!!
Spring cleaning, new clothes, CNY goodies, decorations, meeting
relatives and friends..
This year's the year of the Tiger!! Somehow I feel the year's going to
be filled with new opportunities and hope for us. I always feel good
at the start of a new year.. New beginning, new road ahead.
Alot of us in the fammily are 'physically down', taking turn to
catch the viruses from one another. I am down with a nastly cold and
cough while my MILis down with a bad flu. The kids r also starting to
cough. FIL Just recovered from a serious food poisoning incident after
coming back from Jakarta.
Despite the 'weakened' bodies, we still managed to had a good CNY
lunch today. We wanted to go to one of the restaurants in the newly
opened Resorts World but decided not to be caught in the mad rush at
the Resort. In the end we decided to change venue to Cafe Brios @
Grand Copthorne Waterfront.
Manage to catch the lion an dragon dance at the hotel and the kids had
a whale of their time watching the performances and picking up gold
coins 'spat' by the lions. They really created the atmosphere of CNY!

Happy 2010!!
Yes.. it's a long long over due entry. No excuses for my laziness.
The holiday season was good. Couldn't be better, with all the long weekends and time spent with our families. It was a good ending to 2009... and I sure hope 2010 will be a fantastic one for everybody.
I've been wanting to post pics up here as updates.. but alas.. have no time to edit them.
And before I knew it.. the new year is here.. and its the start of a new work week again! Have decided to stay on my current role for awhile more... due to personal reasons. I keep telling myself.. I must have faith in what I am doing. Most importantly.. I must have faith in HIM.
So far, the last 10 days of the new year has been good. Received couple of good news. Most people are still in their holidaying mood.. so generally the atmosphere at work is good. Hope this feeling last. :)
Today, Nick and I went to check out sofa sets.. and we also went to meet our interior designer again. Been wanting to do up that study room for the loooooooooogest time. Finally we decided to make an appointment to discuss with him about the design. So.. we'll be getting some new furnishings in the next 2 months. Can't wait for them to be ready!
As for Nat and Matt, 1st week in sch was fine... though it can be better.
Nat goes to K1 this year. And she D-R-E-A-D going to sch cos she has this fear of her teacher.. who resembles a 'giantess' to her. (exaggerated of cos :p) "Mdm Louis"is big, loud, and fierce. And in Nat's words.. "Everybody says she is fierce!" So.. she concluded that she better not offend Mdm Louis.. else she will be scolded left-right-center. She prob also felt that she is not able to behave 'freely' in sch as much as she did in her N2 class.
Which is why she always hesitate to enter the class the past week. I am hoping that she would overcome this fear soon.. cos I believe it is self-imposed fear and not true fear. Keep telling her if she behave herself.. she will not get scolding. So.. hopefully she will be fine. Anyway, every night whenever I ask her if she enjoyed sch that day, she always gives me the thumbs up. So.. she did enjoyed it..right?
As for Matthias .. he goes to N2 this year. This boy seemed to have no problems adjusting to his new classroom and teachers. BUT.. he is starting to get complaints from his teachers.. for not listening to instructions. Siiighh... why am I not surprised. This little playful puppy simply love disturbing and irritating his friends. Esp now when his classroom is just next to Nat's. They can play with each other everyday. Hopefully he will learn how to listen better!!!
That's all for now.. update again soon!
